During the beginning months of COVID, my family decided it was time to get out of the city and move to the mountains. We love to hike up and down the mountain we live on, and in my travels I recently learned my new neighbor is expecting in the spring. Of course this meant I needed to start digging through our patterns for a quilt appropriate for a new baby. I found this lovely pattern in our new book Time-Saving Charm Quilts and decided to give it a try.
I have never used a charm pack before but I loved how quickly I could make all of the half square triangles for this! No cutting! I used the Benartex charm pack from their Dreamy collection. For the background, border, backing, and binding, I used fabrics from P&B's Kashmir Kaleidoscope line. I free motion quilted sun and star motifs into the background spaces. The star was created using The Stencil Company's Night Flower stencil.
The entire quilt was finished in a day, making this a great pattern for a last minute shower gift. My neighbor is having a boy, so in the end I decided I should pick a more masculine color way, but I think this came out very elegant.
